Croatia visited

Going into today I did not know what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Our guide was great and the tour was fabulous. The country is a wonderful mix of the distant past and the recent past. The people are very friendly and inviting.

The countryside is mountainous and beautiful.
We got on the bus and went to the old walled city to begin our Croatian adventure. The following pics will try and give the feel for the walled city..

No the man was not an ancient Croation but it was the old style of dress.

We had drinks at a restaurant overlooking the harbor ( notice the view of the harbor reflected in the mirror behind Mike ).. Yes thank you for the "ohs" and "ahs" that  you all are mumbling. It is a gift being this creative. Here are a few more pics from the old city;

We then went to another port city and even though Mike and I are very close friends, even friends have disagreements.

The following pic is of the island where Games Of Thrones  films Kings Landing.

We then stopped to take pics on the mountain at an overlook and the bus broke down. But the view was so great we did not mind.

We went to a place to have snacks near a rushing river that felt like it was 15 degrees cooler. Dd tried to hold up a tree that was falling and needed Karen to help save the tree.

Mike is standing next to a water wheel that helps generates the power for the area along with many other water wheels.

Gary is standing next to the river. We flipped a coin to decide if we should push him in, but he won the coin toss.

I would like to add an editorial comment to this "most excellant blog". The view expressed is mine and mine alone. Why in Europe why do you have to pay to use public rest rooms? That is just plain shitty.... Here is a Croation toilete that had a person stand at to collect the fee of 5 Kunas each, about $1.00 US.

Yes, one could say I am pissed off at having to pay. It seems to me that we are "pissing" away our money. I know, that was low hanging fruit, but sometimes you just need to pick what you can get.

At lunch Karen made Mike smile as only she can. We were a but shocked at Karen's brazenness, but Mike was feeling a bit down. Look at the smile on Mike. A word  of caution, the following pic is not for young children or Catholic Nuns.

We returned to the ship and we were all hot and tired but glad we made the trip.

This is Dd playing Vanna White showing off the shoreline of Croatia as we are leaving this amazing  port.

Dinner on board was good and then they did a tour of our different rooms while I went to the Casino to help support Royal CarribeIn Cruise Lines. Then we all went to the show that was good. Following we had a snack and Dd  and I went to our room while Karen danced, by herself, as Mike  has two left feet. All in all it was a most exceant. day filled with beautiful views, great company and for the most part google humer....
